Food52 Headquarters, New York

James was commissioned by Food52 to photograph their brand new, award-winning office space designed by Float Studio. The 45,000 sq. ft. space is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows providing both North and South light. The variety of rooms—from industrial test kitchens to cozy meeting rooms—made for an exciting challenge to photograph.

"Nestled in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard, Food52's headquarters feature test kitchens, a prop warehouse, and a room dedicated to production materials. Enriched by a muted color palette, custom furniture, and vintage pieces, every detail contributes to a homey atmosphere."

Is Your Project Ready for its Glow Up?

West Elm Headquarters, DUMBO, Brooklyn

West Elm, a Williams-Sonoma furniture brand based in Brooklyn, New York, commissioned James to photograph their line of office furniture, Workspace , at their flagship headquarters in DUMBO. The assignment was to highlight the furniture pieces in use in real life, while also emphasizing the architectural deatils of the historic space.

“Housed inside Empire Stores, a new Brooklyn Bridge Park cultural complex along the East River, the 97,650 square foot space was designed by the New York-based Architectural + Interiors Studio VM (VMAD). As an active partner in the restoration, West Elm helped lead conversations about how to best reinvent the late 19th century coffee roasting facility and warehouse, thereby reestablishing its active role in community life. The LEED Silver Certified building incorporates architectural elements from the original structure including storied schist walls and arched brick windows...The office also serves as a showcase for west elm Workspace, the brand’s contract furniture line that launched in 2015.”  via Officelovin'

Mathew's Restaurant, Jersey City, New Jersey

Agencie Group was the Executive Architect on this rebuild of famed Cuban restaurant, La Conguita, in downtown Jersey City. James was commissioned to photograph Mathew's, not only to document some of the unique details, but to tell the story of the space.

"Together, the design team worked through every little detail to create the perfect vibe. After spending a few months rendering concept, the year long build out began. The team sourced wallpaper, tile, door hardware and brass fixtures from all over the world. A 1940’s light fixture was found in Berlin and now hangs prominently above the corner booth."
